Roeland Tobin Bell
Roeland Tobin Bell passed away Dec. 5, 2025, at University Medical Center in Jackson following a sudden illness. He was 85 years old.
Roeland was born in Vicksburg to William Thomas Bell, Jr. and Jessie Lynn Bell. He grew up in the family home built on acreage on Porters Chapel Rd. in 1938. The home “Bells Hill” is still in the possession of the Roeland Bell family. Mr. Bell was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Vicksburg and later joined Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN and then Columbia Presbyterian Church in Columbia, MS. He served as a deacon in all three churches.
Roeland attended Jett Elementary School and Carr Junior and Senior High School, graduating in 1958. He attended Mississippi State University and graduated from the University of Mississippi in January 1962, with a degree in Business Management. He worked as a Life Insurance Executive for Southland Life Insurance Company of Dallas, TX, for 40 years and was a partner in Price, Brown, and Bell Insurance Company Inc. in Columbia, MS. After returning to Vicksburg, he was associated with P.L. Hennessey Insurance Company Inc.
Mr. Bell was a member of the Ole Miss Alumna Association, The Sons of the American Revolution, The Kappa Sigma Fraternity, The Million Dollar Round Table Insurance Society, The Phoenix Club of Memphis, past president of the Exchange Club of Columbia, MS, and the Clan Bell Society of America.
Mr. Bell was a staunch Presbyterian and valued his Christian Faith, his family and his friends above all things. He was Predeceased by his parents, William T. and Jessie Lynn Bell, his sister, Doris Bell Bazard (Scott), his brother, William Thomas Bell, III (Vivian), and his twin sons William Bart and Robert Wayne Bell (Michele).
He is survived by his wife of 64 1/2 years, Carmine Banks Bell, his daughters, Lynn Bell Breeden (Greg), Doris Tobin Bell Tucker (Ty), and Sally Bell McLean, also his daughter-in-law Michele Archie Bell; his grandchildren, Devon Bell (Katie), Hunter Bell, Matthew Bell, Jacob Breeden (Allie Grace), Marley Johnson (Colin), Audrey Johnson Outlaw (Stuhr), Dylan Johnson, Maggie Bell McLean, Lily McLean, Campbell McLean; and great-grandchildren Brynn and Blair Bell, and Axel Johnson.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church in Vicksburg at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tim Brown officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Glenwood Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Lynn Cemetery in Archibald, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Devon Bell, Matthew Bell, Hunter Bell, Jacob Breeden, and his nephews Alan Bazard and Greg Bazard. Honorary pallbearers will be The Hazel Erwin family, Kendall and Regina Kendrick, The Men’s Bible Class of First Presbyterian Church, and his friends at the YMCA Gym.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of French Camp Academy.
